The Hospital for Special Surgery (NYC)

Cannon Design was part of the imperative to extend the hospital floorplan over the FDR Drive in Manhattan. Before getting the green light, the community needed clarity on how such an addition would affect shadows on the neighboring community.

To quantify this, Cannon turned to FSC, which built a 3D model of the surrounding community and the proposed addition. Highly advanced software was employed to run repetitions of 24 hour cycles illustrating the shadow effects of sunrise and sunset through every season.

This type of work is highly specialized in the world of architecture and engineering, and FSC is proud to be one of the limited number of firms with such capability.
